SUMMARY
In this article we will present a story from the children's book “Quando as Estrelas se Transformam em Números” by Leonel Vieira. This work, composed of six stories, covers the decimal positional numbering system, triangular numbers, the square as a particular case of a rectangle, numerical relations, the algorithm for division by partial quotients and, finally, the meaning of n in the context of a figurative sequence. Throughout six stories, various mathematical contents are addressed, enabling the establishment of connections between Portuguese and mathematics, in a classroom context, in family environments or others. The book is recommended for children from the 3rd year of schooling onwards and the reader is expected to discover the beauty of mathematics. This article will only address the last story in the book, entitled “The Powerful n“, in which the n is assumed to be any number.
