Symmetries of Lisbon's sidewalks competition The Lisbon Academy of Sciences, in celebration of the International Day of Mathematics, Mathematics, Art and Creativity, is launching a national competition aimed at students from the 9th to the 12th grade. The challenge consists of creating five proposals for the five missing symmetry patterns on the Portuguese sidewalk in the city of Lisbon, aiming to complete the set of all 24 existing plane symmetries. 5 Prizes worth €1000 each dedicated to students from the 9th to the 12th grade who must submit their proposal to the email geral@acad-ciencias.pt until March 2, 2025. Academic José Francisco Rodrigues was elected president of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences (ACL) for the 2025-2026 biennium. The election took place during the Academy's plenary session on December 19, 2024.

The Ludus Association has created a competition for Academic Theses. Applications are open until June 30, 2025.

Henrique Leitão, founding member of the Ludus association, was appointed by His Holiness Pope Francis to a position of great prestige.
