This course provides a concise introduction to the multidisciplinary field of board game studies, grounded in the cultural heritage of games. Participants will explore the cultural, historical, psychological, sociological, and design dimensions of board games, as well as their connections to fields such as computer science and mathematics.

Far beyond mere entertainment, board games are cultural artefacts that reflect and influence social dynamics, cognitive processes and historical contexts. Through a few well-chosen examples, this course will highlight key themes in the study of games and provide valuable tools for those wishing to explore this fascinating field in more depth.
